Everyone has a story. My story is a fulfilling lifetime of events stemming from my great grandmother, Mary Holt, who was a mid-wife, and delivered the majority of the babies in Prince George County, VA. With my birth being during Hurricane Hazel, you could only imagine how many ups and downs life has thrown my way, but not to bore you, or exploit myself, let’s just keep it simple.
Honors to Joyce (Mom), Mohammed (Dad), Racheal & Julia (Grandmothers) and Fred & William (Grandfathers). Being raised, on the colony, with very strong principles, 6 siblings, and never-ending duties, is what has given me my current day stamina, to keep on keeping on. School was always a breeze for me, and I participated in different activities, like singing and playing ball. I always seemed to land jobs with importance, all of which have served as valuable life lessons, and experiences.
Many moms have their little sayings. Well “Shut Yo Mouf” is what my mom always said. If you knew Joyce, you would know she didn’t like confusion, of any kind. She would tell us “Shut Yo Mouf & go to bed,” or “Shut Yo Mouf & Do your homework,” or “Shut Yo Mouf & do them dishes,” and many more reason to “Shut Yo Mouf,” and boy I’ll tell you, we’d do it, because it was better than getting a whipping!
So, “Shut Yo Mouf” is all an inspiration from my mom, to honor her. She cared for, and fed, so many people and passed that motherly nature on to me, and now mine. Alonzo, Katrice, Dorothea, Mekiyah, And Mizraim are my children and the result of her effects.
